Counterintuitive doses
Sometimes, half the medicine has double the effect. Now we know why.
The Last Psychiatrist has the scoop. Finally, an explanation for why half a tab of Remeron can knock you out cold for 15 hours, but the full tab only for eight. It's really all about thresholds: e.g. Remeron is marketed as an antidepressant and anti-insomniac, but the effects are totally different depending on the dose.
But don't let me keep you here, go and read the article I linked -- it has a better explanation.
Incidentally, if you ever want to spend a full night in deep, repairing sleep, there's nothing like Remeron. Just don't have only half a tab -- unless you have sixteen hours to spare.
